Leyda Pinot Noir receives outstanding scores in James Suckling’s 2021 report.
Our cold climate wines scored highly in the latest report by renowned wine critic James Suckling. Mr. Suckling especially commended our varieties of Pinot Noir, including the 2020 Reserve and 2019 Single Vineyard Cahuil, which respectively obtained 91 and 92 points.
The 2019 LOT 2 took the top prize, receiving 93 points from the globally-esteemed connoisseur.

Like the years before, our prestigious LOT line was the subject of much praise. The 2019 LOT 5 Chardonnay, 2020 LOT 4 Sauvignon Blanc, and 2018 LOT 8 Syrah received a score of 92 points, standing out for their freshness and balanced acidity.
While the LOT line claimed the highest accolades, our Single Vineyard varieties were not far behind. Single Vineyard Cahuil and Las Brisas obtained 92 points for their 2019 vintages, while 2020, Single Vineyard Kadún was awarded 91 points.
One of the wines that most impressed Mr. Suckling was our 2018 Single Vineyard Canelo Syrah vintage, which was awarded 93 points. Its intense character fuses spicy notes with white pepper, bay leaf, and olives while holding a firm and juicy mouthfeel, elegant, with silky tannins and a very persistent finish.
Finally, the exponents of our Reserve line obtained equally consistent mentions. The 2020 Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc Reserves were awarded no less than 91 points in their respective categories.
These are the latest in a proud portfolio of awards and accolades, which continue to inspire us, driving us towards our goal to be the best cold-climate premium wine winery in the world.
